The Responsible Ministry and Safe Environment Protocol established by Archbishop Mancini has been implemented in St. Augustine’s Parish under the authority of the Parish Priest, Father Doucette, by appointing Mr. James King as the Parish Responsible Ministry Coordinator (PRMC).

By the terms of the Protocol, Mr. King conducts orientation sessions for all employed and volunteer personnel who have contact with children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Orientation sessions serve to explain the Protocol, its Covenant of Care, and to commence the steps required to have all ministers and employees cleared by means of personal reference and police record checks. The results of these checks are collated and assessed by the Diocesan Responsible Ministry Coordinator to ensure only those cleared by the reference and police check process can be employed or act in volunteer ministry positions. All clergy serving in the Archdiocese have already been cleared in similar fashion at the Diocesan level.

The Protocol also provides for formal reporting of potential or suspected incidents involving inappropriate behavior by clergy, employees or volunteer ministers. Included is a formal reporting procedure by submission of a simple form to the Parish Responsible Ministry Coordinator (Mr. King).
